USB Hubs and Card Reader Compatibility

Frakture

Hi All

I've just purchased a N10 and am looking into getting a USB/Micro USB OTG multi port hub that will work with the N10

I'm aware of the difference in functionality between unrooted and rooted N10's (i.e. one can only retrieve data from a USB Flash or Card and the other can retrieve and write to them).

My question is, will all Hubs be compatible with the N10 or do I need to seek out Nexus 10/Android specific versions.

Ideally I want the Hub to have at least one USB 2.0 slot as well as SD and Micro SD slots. Any other slots may prove useful in the future but aren't essential to me now.

Any help or suggestion are gratefully received

I am in a similar position but I have bought a micro USB to female USB cable but the Nexus doesn't read an SD card in a multi card holder.

So I would be really pleased for some guidance.

Similar situation here. I have an OTG cable which works with USB memory sticks and a USB card reader that works attached to my PC. But when I attach it to the OTG cable, OTG Helper doesn't see the drive. Stickmount sees the drive and mounts it, but no files (AVI) are visible in my file explorer. I've tried NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT formats. Any ideas?

Not sure if this is even the right answer but if nobody has tried the app Nexus Media Importer then it could be worth a look, I've had a 250GB FAT32 HDD attached via OTG and been able to access all media on my Nexus 10 :) (also a 64GB NTFS USB stick)

WRT card readers: I read on another forum that the problem is Linux supports them, but the Android system doesn't. That possibly explains why Stickmount can mount the drive but the system can't read the files.
