Help USB Issue

Hey all, I'm having a problem connecting my phone to the computer to back it up. The phone recognizes the connection and allows me to select between the three options. When I turn on USB mode the computer does nothing and will not recognize the phone. I've gotten it to connect to the computer two times out of literally about 100 try's. All USB ports are working fine, and I'm running froyo on the phone and windows 7 on the pc. I really can't figure out what to do next. Thanks in advance!

Is it using the same USB cable that is used with the AC adapter for charging? Are you having any trouble charging the phone? I did not have a problem initially, but after some months I began to have trouble charging the phone and connecting to the PC. It would connect sometimes, others not, or it would connect and reconnect over and over. It charged fine in the car, and of course, that uses a different charger, so I knew it wasn't the phone. I replaced the USB cable and AC adapter (don't think I really needed a new adapter) and everything has worked fine since. Just a thought.

Is it using the same USB cable that is used with the AC adapter for charging? Are you having any trouble charging the phone?

It is the original cable that came with the phone. It has no problem charging the phone through the A/C adapter as well as the computer. I don't think the cord is the issue, but I can't come up with a good reason why the phone wouldn't be working.
