I have an S3, I bought a cable for the S2 as on the review on youtube it said it would work with S3. It doesn't appear to work, is it a faulty one or is it due to it being for an S2? Cost me 1.78 so I'm not too worried but I would like to know if I should buy another cheap one or if I should get a legitimate one.

i got 2 cheap ones. one with a cable and other one just short and straight. both works fine on my S3.
Guess that means mine is just a faulty one, have ordered another one, hopefully it wont take 8 weeks to arrive like the last one.

Great question. I just picked up a cable and a 32gb flash drive. The phone gives me a message "usb connected" but i can't seem to find the drive to move files. Any help is appreciated.
