Usb otg - please help!!

Hey guys, this is my first ever thread... sorry for any mistakes....


I'm having problem with the OTG-micro-USB adapter:
Basically - it does not work

I have SGS3 i9300, android 4.1.1, a genuine Samsung OTG cable...

I've tried to connect my 8gb sandisk flash (FAT32), or mouse - nothing helped. When I connect it, it basically say: "USB connector connected" and that's it. nothing happens.

So I tried it on a on my buddy's phone (also i9300) with the same cable, and worked perfectly: after connecting, the sandisk is mounted and browsing is possible via file manager.... mouse also worked.

PS - it seems like something minor, but I REALLY need this OTG thing in order to connect my phone to my DSLR camera via BBQdslr App.

PLEASE HELP ME.......

Have you enabled the usb in your settings ?

didnt think s3 supported otg. thats what i have seen in past. is this right?

I installed an app called StickMount.apk from the Play Store. I don't know if it is necessary but it works for me.

I am currently Rooted on MOAR 7.01 ROM (4.3) but it worked on some other Roms too.

The OTG cable came with my neighbors kids Toy Tablet, so I know it is not Official Samsung.

I don't know if it is true but I have read reports that using an OTG cable can blow your USB port on some S3s. I still use it sometimes, but I try to be careful.

Oops, I have a US Boost (Sprint) phone. Not sure why that would matter though.
