Root USB Storage write protected - NS 2.3.6

Hi , I am trying to root my device and I am unable to copy the Superuser.zip over because of write protected usb storage.

Steps I have done.

unlocked bootloader via fastboot

flashed clockwork mod (.img from Wiki)

in recovery , mounted usb storage from within Mounts and Storage.

I then attempted to copy Superuser.zip thru windows explorer and it says write protected.

If I reboot the device and go to normal mode, and try to mount USB storage it does the same thing.

I did install the ADB drivers from SDK and windows detects the device as such when I go into recovery.

Any ideas?

Thank you

edit: not sure where it broke, but my guess is the drivers did not install or something because I tried it on another computer and it worked. Only difference is , I copied superuser.zip over to the device, then did the clockwork mod , then recovery , mount , install from zip. Before I did clockwork mod, recovery , usb mount , tried to copy over the .zip .. and this is where it said write protected.
