USB to hdmi

I have a Nokia c110 with Android 12. I purchased a USB C to HDMI adapter to connect my phone to a TV. When connected I received no system notification on my phone that the TV recognized the phone or vice versa.

The ports work because I can connect my laptop via a HDMI to the TV and it works.

I returned the cord because I thought it was defective. What could have been some reasons why it didn't work. Do I have to find a specific type to work with the chips on the phones board?

Does your USB C to HDMI also have a power cable? Like this cable at Amazon:

No it doesn't. I didn't know I need a power source for the adapter to work

it is also possible that the phone may not support media output thru the usb port. you should look into something like a fire stick or chromecast. they are not that expensive and super easy to setup. plus it can mirror your phone to the tv wirelessly. no need for cables.
