Use caution when chasing down your lost/stolen phone...

What a horrible tragedy.

I have a friend who left his iPhone in a cab a couple of years ago and used a feature and app to track it down. it was in the hands of a homeless person at that point, who relinquished it for a $20 "reward."

Sad to think this is a possible result.

I guess the lesson learned is, if there's nothing irreplaceable on the phone, just forget it. At the end of the day, it's only money: install a remote wipe app so that if it's lost or stolen you can clear the data, then get a new phone.

If you must chase it down, take some friends. Have at least one other with you and leave another filming at a reasonably safe distance. And if it's in a dangerous part of town, then wait.

I'd like to read a story where one of these "tough" guys who finds a phone that belongs to a real tough guy and we find said "tough" guy missing his hands and tounge. That would make my day.

sad story...

but ... sunday morning at 5:15 am... walking up to and unknown car with 3 guys.. behind a mall.
