Root Use ROM Mgr to make nandroids?

Zoandroid

I am currently using CWM Recovery v5.5.0.x (the Touch version) rev1.73.

I would like to start using the "Back up current ROM" function in ROM Manager, rather than manually rebooting to recovery to make a nandroid. But after installing ROM Manager 5.0.0.8 it says I have to 'flash CWM Recovery' (from ROM Manager, it seems) before it will let me use these features.

Can I just tell ROM Mgr. to go ahead and flash the Touch Recovery onto my A500 tablet over top of 5.5.0.x I have installed now? Or would that not work?

I would not. the Backup Function in ROM manager ISn't as reliable as it should be. You would also lose the 1.7.3 Custom Recovery. Which is VERY solid.

Nandroid the old fashioned way...boot to recovery and Back up....
Sorry....

Thanks for the advice. I will do so. Really the only thing I was liking about making backups in ROM Manager was the ability to name the nandroid up front, and not have to do the reboots. But its not that big a deal. System stability is more important to me.

Can't help you on the Reboot issue....just gotta do it.
You CAN rename the files in your file manager.
Just DON"T leave a Space....ANYWHERE in the new name.
will give you an MD5 Mismatch.

Thanks. I learned that the heard way. I wish making a nandroid from CWMR had the option to set the target storage location manually.
