Root Use your touch buttons for notification LED

I found an excellent app that uses the LEDs in the touch buttons for notifications. It is called LG touch LED Notifications http://goo.gl/SGdCU It doesn't specify that it works with the spectrum but I am a day into use and it works excellent. You do need root to use it.

I've also been using this since I for my Spectrum. Works really well and i haven't seen much of a drain. :)

Looks promising. My only issue is the permissions. Though it has the capability to, this application does not need to read my text messages, see who I'm talking to, or do anything else but turn on an LED when something happens.

Boo "required" permissions.

I'll pass on this one.

Considering it has to read the state of almost everything on the phone in order to process the notifications, the permissions are required. Blame Google for not making permissions more granular. Any third party notification app (out any app that taps into accessibility) needs these permissions.

You could install a firewall and make sure that anything that is read cannot be transmitted beyond your phone.
