You should learn what to do with root *before* you do it.

I have SU but will not make any changes until i know more. At least the device is ready. I do know how to go back to factory if necessary.

Not the point. Rooting is the process which is most likely to damage your phone, not flashing things. Just because you can click a button doesn't mean you should do it.
