useful apps, especially mountain biking

Hi All,
Just bought first ever smartphone (HCT Desire HD), am a bit of a techno-phobe, and would like to develop a better relationship with all things gadgety. I`m overwhelmed by the number of apps in the marketplace, and would like advice about apps that are useful. Not games to avoid addiction, but stuff that will improve organisational skills, music playing (guitar) and mountain biking. Any suggestions most welcome.
Cheers
Bob

HI and welcome! I'm gonna move this to the apps section for you. :)

For Mountain Biking - a few guys I know use the following apps:

Runkeeper (I uninstalled this as it wouldn't pick up GPS properly)

Sports-tracker (This is very popular in my MTB club _ can upload photos directly onto the ride)

I use Endomondo and really rate it. (Autopause is ace)

Depending on the type of riding you do - it may be worth looking for an auto pause function - so you don't have to stop and start the tracking again - whilst you're taking pics, catching your breath or eating flapjacks.

Again depending on the type of riding Bikehub is good too. It's no good for proper off road but if you commute, or want to get from one point eg home to another point eg bike shop, the app will navigate a route using bike friendly routes: market link here:
