User profile app

Hello folks,

DS wants to use my Xoom at a times to play Cordy and since I will start using it for my work soon, I would like him to stay away from my apps and work. I currently use App Lock but entering code every time is a pain. I was wondering if there is any user profile app using which I restrict his access to only stuff of his interest by just once click.

Any recommendation for controlling brightness is also welcome. He ALWAYS pushes it to highest brightness and that blinds me when I start using it early in the morning, drives me nuts.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. - The tablet is unrooted and have no intention of rooting it (I am just not smart enough for that and I can not afford bricking it).

Without root, your options are limited on the user accounts. That feature got added to version 4.2, but I don't know if the Xoom has that version or not (or if it will for that matter, IIRC it was EOLed a few weeks back).

Regarding the screen brightness, you have options there. I use an app called AutomateIt (link below), and it lets you set up actions that trigger after certain events (I use the pro version, so I don't know if the free one contains the same number of triggers). For example, you can have the app enable the auto setting for the Xoom's brightness, every time the Cordy app is left, thus you'll never encounter a bright screen so long as DS leaves the app (think, pressing the home button) before returning it to you.

Not sure it meets all of your needs but take a look at Llama. I just found it a couple of weeks ago. Based on mobile cell towers it changes your profile depending on your location ie. Work or Home. Besides ringtones, volume and brightness It can do a bunch of stuff like, toggling on and off all services wifi, mobile data, refresh widgets, lock your phone, kill applications etc. the list goes on. Works out of the box with some basic profiles, then you add whatever you want. It doesn't suck your battery down because your phone is already polling the cell towers. Doesn't work if you live near where you work though! Best of all it's free with no adds.
