Uses for old DHD ?

I'm coming to the end of ny current contract and therefore getting a shiny new phone.

Currently trying to decide what to do with my dhd.

One option is to give it to the kids to use as an iPod touch type device. However, if I remove the sim I'm constantly getting the "no valid sim" message.

Anyone know how to stop this message popping up ? Only need WiFi connection for it

Thanks

Not sure about the SIM message... I got the Nexus 4 when I came to the end of my contract with my DHD, which needs a micro SIM... I left the old one in my DHD... when the new one became active (on the same number), the old one stopped working :)

Doesn't putting it aeroplane mode also disable WiFi ? WiFi would be needed just not the ability to make calls, hence removing the SIM

On my old DHD I've removed the SIM and set the phone in aeroplane mode.
So I don't get the SIM missing message in the notification bar.

The phone works fine with WiFi in aeroplane mode.
I didn't remove my Google account, so I can use the Play Store (and my purchased apps) on the phone.

With an app protector app the DHD, now the phone is a playing console for the kids :)

Putting the phone in airplane mode does disable wifi, but you can go back into the settings and re-enable wifi while airplane mode is still engaged. I keep all of my phones like that when I'm in the house.
