Help Using a lot of RAM

Hey all, when i first got my note 2 it was using about 700-800mb of RAM out of the 1.75gb, i have downloaded apps etc but dont always have them running however i notice it gets to about 1.5gb being used, i click close all apps in the task manager and it closes about 50 but i dont have that many open? do the cached ones use a lot of RAM too and which ones can i shut down to decrease the usage ?

Its got to be counting all things as apps running in the phone. I cleared mine a while ago and it was also around 50. I just picked it up again and it closed 48 apps

yeah thats like mine, anyone else have any ideas? could it possibly be a virus? and would a factory reset help ?

No thats standard with Jelly Bean

If you are coming from ICS or earlier, there are many new things to re- learn when you use an Android 4.1 Jelly bean device like the Note 2 - its NOT like earlier versions of Android.

at anytime my Note 2 states it has 48 apps running in the background - even after I launch and execute:
"Killer App Pro" app - to conserve RAM.

The Note 2 has 2GB RAM, and just sitting there doing nothing, if I hold the Home Button and then tap the pie chart icon for RAM status, mine is using "1.07GB of 1.75GB".

The amount of free ram is irrelevant. The OS will kill apps as needed to free ram when necessary. To think of it another way, it will continue to allow processes to run in the background, occupying space in the ram until old processes need to be purged to allow new ones to run. You shouldn't ever need to kill apps to free ram unless there is a problem with an app.
