Using Clears 4G service on Galaxy

ldp2012

Lurker
I had a plan from sprint which was costing me nearly $120 a month, so I dropped it. I still got the phone however. I never call anybody really, and would basically like to use the phone as a 4G mobile device.

Clear has an unlimited 4G plan (Which sprint used anyway) for $50 a month. I understand the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a clear antenna - so it should be able to receive the clear wireless signal without a sprint contract or service.

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this. I thought I read somewhere that you simply need to change some numbers in the phone - but I cannot find that thread again.

The phone is older. I bought it back in January of 2012. Using android 2.3.6 and the model # is SPH-D170.

Thanks for the help.

I would avoid Clear, they "manage" which means throttle constantly. I had the unlimited plan 4g plan and "managed" me to about 56kpbs. Why because I watched netflix movies (standard not HD mode) every other day.
