Using Ford Sync for voice commands?

I really love my Ford Sync and my Moto Droid. And they work together pretty well. But I'm frustrated because my Droid has a LOT of functionality beyond phone & music that (as far as I know) I can't really use. For example, while my phone will stream media to the Sync over Bluetooth, I still have to manually select the app providing the media. Once in the app, I usually have to manually select which media to stream over the Bluetooth as well. This seems a little silly given how many Android apps have voice functions.

Also, Google's voice recognition seems a LOT better than MS/Ford's. I'd love to be able to use the built-in mic, but let the phone identify my commands. Basically, as much as possible I'd like to use the Ford's mic as just an input for the phone. Is there any way to do that?
