Using GoLauncher EX on SGS3

Anyone else using GoLauncher instead of Touchwiz?

I put it on almost straight away. I could live with Touchwiz on my Galaxy tablet but it seemed a bit annoying on the SGS3. Just lots of little things like lack of flexibility with screen size, no options for homescreen animation effects, no way to remove icon text from shortcuts (I thought the whole point of icons was to avoid text?!)

I've found Go Launcher to run really nicely, it's useful having 9 homescreens and the SGS3 handles them all perfectly, no lag at all.

I am wondering if I'm missing out on something by doing this though? Any one know?

I am not sure if you are missing out on anything by doing this? Maybe the Widgets? I doubt it though. Someone please do answer that question though.

I have been using GO on my EVO4G for over a year. Its definitely what I am thinking about doing on the GS3 as well. Unless by moving over we will definitely be missing something? Either way someone let us know, thanks

I assume Samsung's widgets will only work with Touchwiz much like the HTC ones only work with sense.

Theres not much to miss really.

Launcher pro here... Runs sweet as a nut

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that it runs touchwiz widgets being that I've just added the dual clock to my home screen and resized it to fit, what's more it transparently overlays with existing short cuts on the home screen as you can see from the screenshot

Do you still get the shortcuts to settings (brightness, wifi, bluetooth, etc.) in the drop down notifications if you install a 3rd party launcher on the S3 (don't own one yet but considering getting one when the Pebble Blue is available)?

Yes, the notification area / status bar are in no way touched by a 3rd party launcher.

Homescreens, Dock and App Drawer are the only things changed by a launcher.

But you could get the Elixir 2 app and add toggle/info buttons to the notification area as an 'ongoing event' or you could just create a widget for the home screen :)

you can indeed. A bit messy for my liking though. Other than brightness settings, stock seems to have all I need.

Does Nova on the GSIII support adding widgets ICS style (in the app drawer, w/ preview?). Also does it support unread counts directly on shortcuts for things like SMS, calls, email?

Edit: Also:

Anyone using AWDLauncher Ex on the GSIII?

Launcher Pro??? I thought that had serious problems with ICS devices (GNex at least)?

I didn't get my hand on GSIII yet, but new Touchwiz UX seems very nice from what I see. It seems light, fast, very customizable and app drawer looks more like stock ICS.

I'm not sure why some of you would try pre-ICS launchers like Go, ADW. If you don't like even new TW, I think Nova or Apex are way to go.

Go launcher is very customisable. The main think I like about ICS launchers is the big preview of open apps when holding home. This is retained when using Go.

No other launcher has ever managed to be as good as go for me and it can do everything an "ICS" launcher can do and more, whilst looking the same. Why wouldnt anyone want that

I haven't even gotten my S3 yet but in my head I already installed Go Launcher. :D I love Go Launcher - I have it installed on my Galaxy Note, and my HTC Vivid. If I recall, at least some of the TouchWiz widgets are available but I don't use them. I want my phone! ;)

Thanks for all the replies guys, good to see i'm not the only one using GO.

I've got all my homescreens set up now and have gone as far as having the full 9 available. It still runs lightening fast and seems very stable. Ever so often I have what appears to be a launcher reload (home screen goes blank, well just wall paper visible) but it reloads everything so quickly (1-2 seconds) that i'm happy with that.

I may try that Elixir app mentioned above. Not having the brightness and airplane mode in the notification bar is a little bit of a pain, I had to add two widgets to do that. Certainly seems odd given that both are in my 10.1 Tab's notification area.
