Help Using google maps

Otobaka

Lurker
Hi,

I am having a LOT of trouble with google maps on my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Notepad tablet,

I am currently in Tokyo, it seems to be crashing all the time (even when I'm looking for addresses back in Australia). It freezes often. When I put in an address in Japanese (kanji), it freezes more often. Which is weird, because googlemaps is normally the other way around, and doesn't recognise Japanese addresses written in English script/alphabet.

But the biggest problem is that if often freezes before I can even begin typing in an address. I have reinstallled the app on numerous occasions, and it's really starting to shit me, quite frankly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Send crash reports to Google. Maybe they will fix it with future update. Does this happen with other android devices? Are you rooted or using a custom ROM? Maybe this is a bit extreme but have you tried a factory reset?

It only happens when I use maps, and not really with any other apps.
I'm using a rooted ROM, and being told by technical support to do a hard reset, which I would rather not do. Yeah seems a bit extreme. Although, tbh, there ins't that much data on the tablet in any case.

I would do a hard reset but it may very well be that custom rom you have installed that is giving you trouble. Google maps is an important app. Would you consider i installing another ROM? It could help.
