Hi...

I want to use my internet connection on my laptop in my android phone.
I tried to set up a wifi connection as stated below..But feel that i am missing something

network and sharing center-setup a new connection or a network-set up a wireless adhoc network-network name(WPA2 Personal)..

After this i was able to find the network listed in "Manage wireless networks". Under "Network and Sharing Center" i had set the properties of my wireless dataconnection -Sharing tab- allow network users to connect enable.

After doing all this i enabled wifi on my android. But i could not detect any network. how should i now connect to my laptop's internet connection through wifi as no connection is detected??

Android does not support ad-hoc connections. This is a limitation on the firmware level.

Some Androids support ad-hoc, some don't, Seems to a firmware or hardware limitation in certain devices. My Galaxy S with CM7 2.3 connect no problem to ad-hoc, but my cheapo Ampe a76 4.0 tablet does not, it sees the ad-hoc network, but won't connect to it.

As I said, its a firmware limitation. Usually the manufacturers don't bother adding it, but Custom ROMs have it edited/
