Using my Nexus 4 as a wifi hotspot on T-Mobile prepaid.

Just curious if T-Mobile can tell when I use my phone as a wifi hotspot on their prepaid plans. I do it a couple times a week at work. I'm not streaming anything, just basic web surfing, so I'm not chewing through a ton of data. Is there any way for them to tell other than the data usage?

I've done this also, with my old phone I wasn't able too but with this one it doesn't give me that message saying that I don't pay for the service, I think its a glitch or something but either way if you can get away with it then just use it hah

They have weak screening it for it based on the user agent string. If you mask it with a mobile device user agent string, you'll get the mobile site on your desktop, and desktop strings will get blocked. Last I tried, Linux Mint user agent strings worked for desktop sites. There are probably other Linux based strings that worked, there's a site that has a database full of them and you need an extension to let you change it
