Alright. I've spent two days searching for information I'm asking for help with now. Here we go:
I recently found out that my 4 GB data plan has been almost entirely destroyed by me carelessly using crap tons of it to watch videos and whatnot. At work, I have a bar that has an open WiFi across the street, but my laptop for some reason doesn't connect to it as well as my phone does.
If I (1)completely shut off my mobile data for my S3, (2)join the bar's open WiFi with my S3, (3)connect my laptop and my S3 together with a USB cable, and then (4)tether my laptop to my S3, will I be using data? In my head, I wouldn't be.
However, I apparently used a metric crapton of data when I did all of the aforementioned things with the exception of turning of my mobile data. I don't know if this is true, but I suspect that I was using both the open WiFi and the data connection. My phone says I have only used like 1.8 GB out of 4.0 GB, but Verizon has bursted my bubble and sent me a few notifications saying I've used 3 GB.
Thanks for the help guys.
