using pdanet for BT tethering!

im happy to say im able to use pdanet for BT tethering with my EVO. i was considering rooting my EVO for the wifi hotspot but since the GB update rooting isnt a possibility right now.
does anyone know why none of my apps work though while connected to pdanet? the only thing that does work is the browser (not complaining lol)

Many apps use different ports than regular internet (which uses ports 80 and 443(secure)).

In about a week I'll be home so I can play with it- check if pdanet allows you to specify which ports to allow through.

I checked my email, weather channel, and the browser when using pdanet before. All worked, but I have since gone the rooted route on my DX. Much easier to me. Why don't you SBF ur Evo back to Froyo, then get the rooted GB?

That sucks, there must not be any released Froyo SBFs like they have for the DX. GB will be rooted, its just gonna be sometime. You can always do the fix to allow the TF to connect to ad hoc networks. Then you can use Barnacle WiFi Tether.

I just tried to use PDANet with my Evo with no success. I had by phone set up as instructed and paried (but not connected) with my TF. I set up the settings in the TF as instructed by PDANet. When I selected my phone and pressed connect I got an error message saying to turn on my blue tooth (which was on already). Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

The first time I tried it I was unsuccessful, make sure the phone is enabled. Also did you set the proxy? It's a confusing setup which requires reconnecting at times as well
