Help Using phone for tv/surround

My family is a huge Samsung fan and when looking into phones I picked the skyrocket since it was a Samsung, and thought it will be nice for my to communicate between the 3. So here is what I got, a 7.1 Samsung blueray with internet/wireless and our 55" LED with wireless/Internet. Now why can I not get my phone to "talk" to my phone?

There is an adapter cable you need i believe. It plugs into your phones usb port, and converts it to hdmi, then you plug it into your tv or home theatre amp
