using samsung note 8 on video presentation

I would like to use my samsung note 8 for lectures. I will plug it on a vga projector. Based on my research, you can just buy a micro usb otg and then plug it on a vga adapter so that it can connect to a vga projector. However, when I bought an usb otg, it doesnt seem to recognize the cable. Did you en ounter this problem too? Any suggestions? ( the all share hub is quite expensive)

I don't think it's capable of USB to VGA connection.

Check if the projector has a HDMI port. If it does, you can connect the Note 8.0 to it using a MHL adapter. But it needs to have a 11-pin connector (not the standard 5-pin connector). I am not sure about this, but it could possibly work with a DVI port as well. You will need a HDMI to DVI cable for this though and the DVI port needs to be digital and not analog.
