Using scanned historical maps

I would like to be able to use GPS on my Android with an old map. I like old maps and I would like to use old topo maps when I'm out. I live in Asia and the environment change so quickly. So it would be fun to walk around using old maps. (I am able to use these maps in Google Earth as a layer. The problem is getting it into the Android.)

Anyone knows if there is a separate application or if it possible to accomplish this using existing Google map/earth?

Regards, Mats

On my old Palm TX I had an app like that. I could scan in my old nautical charts which had lat/long tics so I could register them correctly. Did that on my PC. Then a program to load them onto the Palm.

I have not found anything similar for Android.
