Accessories Using Seidio Rugged case with no back cover

Colchicine

Android Expert
I've got the Seidio Rugged case, which has essentially 3 layers for protection. I was thinking that the stock back cover now has become functionless. I can't think of what purpose it serves except maybe to hold the battery in place.

I was thinking of removing the back cover. Technically it would save some weight, and it would provide an air space for the battery to stay cooler. To keep the batter secured, a small piece of foam would be all that is needed to press the battery against the Seidio case.

Thoughts?

Disregard. Answered my own question.

Without the back cover, the first Seidio case doesn't fit snuggly anymore. In addition, it would allow too many openings for the intrusion of dirt / dust into the innards of the phone.

I have been accused of overthinking.
