Using the screen in sunlight

How? I can only export tasks with app factory (which seems pointless)

It's the Tasker App Factory that allows you to export tasks from Tasker. It acts as a plugin. Is this what you mean? Why does it seem pointless?

Oh you said profiles earlier. So which is it? I can only do tasks.

Tasks seem pointless because to me I want the profile. The trigger AND the action. Not just the action, cause then it needs to be triggered?

Ah sorry. I did mean profiles - complete with trigger AND action!

I struggled for ages to find out how to do this but finally found the solution.

You can only export tasks, unless you group your profiles into a Project. It is then the project that is exported. Stuff like this is why I wish we had a Tasker sub forum.

I think this deserves its own thread, but I'll briefly explain how to create the Project. ;)

Right. On the main Tasker screen you have the tabs for Profiles, Tasks, Scenes, and Variables... just underneath the tabs there is a wide grey arrowhead pointing down. It doesn't look like an arrow - more like a theme styling. Drag and swipe this down and the row of tabs moves down revealing a new row above it containing a single tab, top left corner, with a little home icon.

Projects tab! Long press the home tab and a menu comes up and you choose Add Project. Not very intuitive at all. Never would have found it if I hadn't researched it.

Then, to add profiles to your new project, you drag them up to the new project tab and let go. To drag a profile you hold it at the right end, over the button for turning them on or off (either the tick or the cross) and drag. Again, not intuitive. The profiles will be moved. they disappear from the main profiles tab and live in the new project tab.

For my app I moved my two profiles that I needed into the project - screen on brightness, screen off brightness.

I'm sure you can take it from there. :D

When I have more time, I think I'm going to write a guide through to the exporting of the .apk

i've been using "Display brightness" (from RubberBigPepper) for quite a while (already had it on my old DX). it let's you adjust screen brightness from any screen and from within any app via a bar (that can be made 100% transparent) at some edge of the screen (customizable where the bar is supposed to be). it takes about a second to set it from the lowest to the highest level (and any brightness in between). also, the dev replies really quickly to emails and implements changes/improvements equally quickly (not much to improve now, though...).
there is also a "Pro" version available (which doesn't have additional features but i think the dev deserves a buck for such a nice app).

Try Lux. It's way better than the stock auto brightness. You can even "teach" it what brightness levels you like so it adjusts better. It's free too! (Though the paid version allows you to reduce the brightness further along with some other features)

I don't appear to have that. Double checked app factory still installed (can export task)

I know you've experienced this. You're outside, you receive a call, text message or an email a notification of sorts. In doing so you proceed to unlock your screen to thus read said notification, but due to the sheer brightness of the sun, you can't see a thing on your screen (this wasn't the case on my iPhone at 45% screen brightness).

What are the best remedy's for this? I know I could make the screen brighter (I have it set to 55% at the moment) maybe even 100%, but surely there are other options, no?

Thanks in advance

Ivan

Moshi iVison AntiGlare Screen Protector.

You could try the built in samsung widget called negative colours. Here is a screen shot.

Ok so it doesnt show on the screenshot but it does revert all the colours, maybe give it a try

I purchased an HD Matte Screen Protector to make sure my screen stays safe and I have no problem in bright, bright, BRIGHT sunny weather. It auto-adjusts itself so I can see.

In that screenshot you seem to have managed to swipe the tabs down to reveal the "home" tab. What is it you don't appear to have?

Have you tried a long press on the home tab? that should bring up the menu with the option to add a new project.
