Root using these guides

So I am reading the everything root threads and guides for my phone htc evo 4g.

In step one for my phone s-off it shows a couple files to download, when I click on them it goes to a file sharing site, the download button leads to all kinds of spam and adware crap, it says you can decline the offers and get the file, but the file never comes up, what am I missing?

How do I get these files without dealing with all the adware ?

Even after going through it twice I cant find the file I need.

Trying to download the mdsum and following the directions for s off has other files I need.

Just a little confused.

It depends on the site and the "spam and adware crap", but having the details would allow us to go there, look at the site and maybe get some idea of what you should do. Maybe just a link to the post with the link?
