Help Using way too much data and battery!

Big Tee

Newbie
My new VZW Moto X phone is using about twice as much data as my ATT Samsung Galaxy, not to mention a battery hog! I do very little with it since I use my my pc. I use it on the road as a GPS every great while. I use it to scan in stores and research products occasionally and a few more little things. Every once i a while I might use Facebook in an office waiting.. I have streamed Pandora and iheart about 3-4 hrs on Saturday totaling about MB. I bought it exactly a month ago and can't believe the difference. I tried to use 1 GB on my Galxay and couldn't do it!! My battery life sucks too!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Start by doing a Wipe Cache Partition deleting all temporary files and nothing more. It can become contaminated over time and introduce all kinds of problems.

If the problem is still there try running in Safe Mode disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them. If the problems stop they were caused by an app (or apps) that you added. Figure out which one.

or just turn off DATA and use a macro to turn WiFi on/off as you need it.

this is what I do and it works great.

Ummm... What?!?! Is this the Moto X Pure Edition (2015 model)? Because Verizon hasn't sold a Moto X for 2 years... can you go to Settings - About Phone and tell us the value in Model number, Android version, and System version field please?

Is this the device you have, or something else?

Thanks, I haven't used it much and only added 11 simple apps to the very few reinstalled apps.

Did you do the Wipe Cache Partition? Was there a change? Did you try Safe Mode? Was there a change?

These solve 99% of the problems. Everyone assumes the apps they have can't possibly have an impact.

Yes it's the Moto X Pure Edition, am I not on the right forum? To answer your question, yes I bought it a month ago at Best Buy. Mod. XT 1575, 6.0,

No, you are in the right place... I was just making sure we were talking about the right device.

The battery on my moto x pure edition is atrocious . . . . I have to carry an external battery with me at all times now . . . .
The only issue I have with the battery on the MXPE is how much the screen uses... In active use it takes 85%+ of the battery, but idle drain is extremely low and if Doze kicks in it will sit a week without needing a charge.

I make it through most days without needing a charge, getting 3h of SOT on average... But my travel days where I fly every Monday and Thursday I need 4h+, so quick charge for a half hour or so mid-day gets me through.

I've had several Motorolas through the years going back to the 1st Droid and owned several other brands and I found my Galaxy to bet the best on battery and would last 3 days compared to one day with this one!

Depends on the Galaxy model... My S2 couldn't make a day with 1.5 to 2 hours screen time, and don't get me started on the Stratosphere. :)

This is a cheap Galaxy Grand Prime. Maybe more effiecient than the older ones? I don't know as this was my first Samung.

I have to charge my mxpe twice a day most of the time. And most of the time, it would basically just drain the external battery I had to resort to rather than charge at all. Nevermind how this combination ruined about 8 or 9 USB cables until I found a ruggedized one that has been surviving so far. Even if it occasionally will slip out of the connectors.

Everything that I like about this phone is counteracted by the miserable as shit battery that is in here, and Motorola's stupid, stupid decision to make it nonremovable, ensuring we're only renting the thing. I'm seriously desperate enough to research if it's possible to make a fatter shell for the thing and then like... SLI a bunch of batteries inside it so it would last more than three hours at a time without killing everything that's supposed to be recharging it.

I would have loved a thicker phone with a bigger battery... As long as it's safe!
