Help USSD codes wil not work

I just bought a Galaxy S duos. I travel a lot so dual SIMs are important to me. I was also replacing my troublesome Galaxy Note (worst product ever) as my travel handset.

Anyway M1 requires tha I use the USSD code #100* to check status. The code worked on the GN, but will not run on my S duos (same SIM). Anything I need to know?

For reasons I cannot figure out, my Galaxy S duos requires me to enter *100#, rather than #100* to check my balance. Why? I have no idea why.

The SIM instructions state #100*, and I verified it on my other phone. Strange eh?

Anyway it works now.
