Apps vary basic question about data retrieval

Hi
I know this isnt exactly app development but i didnt know who to ask
I am trying to find out if making a button on a web page "subscribe to text alerts" which automatically sends me the users phone number is possible.
I am trying to do it with the user needing to type as little as possible for convenience sake and so i was hoping there was some sort of auto retrieval function

i know that at the same time that may also cause privacy concerns so I was just wondering if such a function exists and if so how to use it

Thanks!!!!!!!

The only way you can do this is by having the user enter their phone number into a text box and clicking a submit button. There is no way (thank god) for it to happen automatically. A browser does not have access to personal information, and cannot be granted access to personal information as a browser and a device have no relation. One cannot directly access the other. This is a good thing, as if they could access eachother, then that would create a huge privacy concern, and I can garuntee you that identiy theft, spam, etc.. woul all increase to an unimaginable level.

thanks for the info
i guess i am a bit disappointed my idea wont work but you raise a very good point
im glad my information is pretty secure on my phone!
thanks again!
