Hey guys,

It took long enough but we're now running the latest version of vbulletin (3.8.5) and the most current/stable version of vbseo as well. If you notice any quirks or bugs please let us know.

I realize that vb4.0 is now available, but we currently have no plans to upgrade to 4.0 - it hasn't been too well received in general and we're not about to shake things up.

Let us know!
Thanks,
Rob

i dont know if it is just me, but none of the toolbar funrions are working in the quick reply or reply areas. example: bold, colors, etc

Thanks for the note on quick reply - looking into it.

Another problem reported via email:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

Trying to mark the forum as read. Hasn't worked at all, all evening.

Will report back. Please keep info on any other bugs rolling in!

The security fix is easy Rob, Adrian probably already knows the exact issue but just in case, this is how to fix it. Since you are running a custom template these lines of code are not in there and break post submissions.

(I realize this isnt an official vB site, but this is the way to do it and it is well explained here)

Vbulletin Security Token Fix

Testing the Quick Reply after using Caddyman's Security Token fix. Does this work? If it does sweet... but we also gotta check if forum marking is working properly.

yeah, most vb stuff is pretty easy but throw in vbseo (i use it on a few of my forums) and things can get confusing...

vbseo in my experience is a great product though, with great support, very good move in using it here...you can tell in your ranking for many terms.

I think this forum was ranked well and did well already without seo.

well seo is a natural thing, you can't just "turn it on", vbulletin does pretty decent itself with SEO, and the URL of this site, the content created daily, the traffic are all HUGE factors for google to consider. For an analogy

Androidforums.com as it sat before vBseo is like a worked muscle car SEO wise because of the above factors

adding vBseo is like adding NOS, or a super charger, to the site....as far as SEO is concerned.

PR has fluctuated. I'm pretty sure AF has been up to PR6 and I think for a VERY brief time Phan was PR7. The fact that both sites link to eachother in the navigation is bad in terms of SEO because there are so many outgoing links. If it were all on one domain (phandroid.com/forum) then we would REALLY be unstoppable.

That being said, I like the setup we have and don't plan on changing it. :)

a pr of 5 is awesome and 6 is just insane. you guys come up number 1 on alot of searches! great f'n job guys! im glad im a member of such a place for both resource and friendship

Just watch out for v3.8.6!

BBC News - Firm scrambles to patch vBulletin software flaw

"A serious flaw in software widely used to power online discussion sites could allow hackers to harvest reams of personal data, the BBC has learned. The flaw in a specific version of the vBulletin software allows anyone to easily access the main administrator username and password for a site. This would also allow hackers to access data, such as e-mail addresses, and edit the site at will.

The flaw affects version 3.8.6 of the software, which was released on 13 July".
