Root Velocity and GrooVeIP - no ringtone

Hello Ally folks. After enjoying the Ally for over two years, I moved on to a Galaxy Nexus and Straight Talk. Since the value of a used Ally is barely enough for a nice meal, I gave it to my nephew as a wifi-only device.

I set him up with a Google Voice account and after trying other options purchased GrooVeIP. The software works perfectly other than the lack of a ringtone. Regardless of what ringtone I choose either through Android settings or GIP's "ringtone override" no ringtone is played. The phone does vibrate, I've made basic sanity checks (silent mode off, volumes up, etc.), and I've tried ringtones both on the SD card and internal memory, all to no avail.

GIP's support has never heard of this and is out of ideas, as am I. The only variable left is Velocity 1.2.2. Anyone have any other ideas? Flashing back to stock is absolutely the last thing I want to do.

Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that's an issue with the app itself, I mean it could be the phone, but probably the ROM. Let's not jump to conclusions though. Have you tried re-installing the app?

Many times. Played with every setting, multiple installs, clear caches, reboots, etc. Think next time I have the free time I'll make a nandroid backup and try flashing other ROMs to see what happens.

Yeah, that's really all I can suggest, if the issue isn't resolved I'll look into it more. Once again, apologies.
