Verizon 2.01.605.11 update destroys the root

I haven't done the OTA yet, mainly cause I'd have to re-lock my bootloader and flash back to stock, but people on XDA are reporting they are able to re-root their Rezounds post update.

[CONFIRMED] Root after OTA - xda-developers

As I understand the instructions, after running the OTA update, if you had to relock your bootloader, you unlock it again, and then flash a custom recovery to your phone. In this case he used Amon RA recovery. If you're uncertain how to flash a custom recovery, download the file from xda-developers - View Single Post - [Recovery] Amon Ra style vigor, and put in in the folder where you have the adb and fastboot tools located. Use the following command to flash the recovery:

fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.13-gnm.img

Then when you boot into recovery, you go to the Developer Menu and use the "Install su and superuser" option.

When you reboot after that you should have regained full root privileges.

Hope this helps.

I never relocked the bootloader. I merely ran the update and it worked.

I don't want to do anything crazy with flashing. I just am hoping for another AMD one click root solution.

Knowing the update would kill my temp root I was fine w/ that and I even went back to my stock battery instead of using the ext bat. My battery life seems to be better now w/ the update. Even though the bloat is back, I'm able to hide the apps using Go Launcher EX.

There is a perm root solution for those who lost root by taking the OTA. The solution was available literally a few hours after the OTA dropped. Hatcha already posted the xda link in his post. It's a little long winded, but it works.

I've also posted my solution in that xda thread. Your phone remains unlocked after the OTA. Since you already took the OTA you don;t have to RUU back to stock. You can go directly to installing Amon Ra custom recovery using Scott's CleanFlash program found here:

[TOOL] - 12/29 - CleanFLASH 1.0 - Flash boot / recovery.img easily! - xda-developers

After that you can push SU and superuser using the option under the developers menu in Amon Ra. Then reinstall the superuser app from the market and you will have perm root again.

OR you can simply flash Amon Ra then install any of the rooted OTA stock roms that are already availble on xda. Here's one of them:

[ROM] Stock Rooted OTA ROM w/ Firmware - xda-developers

Like I said, these solutions have been available for two days now. Maybe it's not as easy as one-click and maybe flashing a rom will require you to reset-up your phone. But honestly, if you really can't live without root, then spending the time to root the new OTA (and re-setup your phone if necessary) should be more than worth the trouble.

I'm back up and running after running the OTA. Still rooted, and everything working great. I had to change my mainver to reflash the kernel I was using on the ROM I was on. I restored a nandroid backup of right before flashing the OTA, and everything is working fantastically.

Quick question...using this method, after re-flashing Amon Ra, could I reinstall one of my Amon Ra nandroid backups?

That's exactly what I did. The nandroids should still be on your SD card, unaffected by the flashing. After I reflashed amon ra, I reflashed the kernel I was using before and restored my nandroid. The only things missing were apps I had moved to the SD card. For some reason they didn't restore. I was able to easily reinstall then though. Everything has been running perfectly for me.

I used OTA Rootkeeper from the market, which makes a copy of the su binary. Use it to backup root access prior to the upgrade and it can restore root access after the OTA. link
