[Verizon] 4.1.2 Update

I got it earlier. Kudos to verizon for releasing this so fast, but the update is almost worthless. Don'tsee anything worth a damn. Anyone agree?

I got the update this morning, but now whenever I use the stock YouTube app I only get to watch one video. After that I get an error message saying that "There was a problem playing the video" and to touch to rentry. The only way I've found to fix it so far is to reboot the phone. Then it will let me watch one video again before getting the error message all over again.

Anyone else running into this, or have found a fix for it?

My battery was at 56% right after update finished. Phone say unused for an hr, and is now at 34%. We'll see if this keeps up over the next day or 2 before really complaining.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Update: battery continues to be poor. I'm getting approximately 4-5 hr's less life then I did prior to update.

Was there a radio update? I do not know. Just asking :)

My reception seems no better or worse.

I just got to work today and I am sitting in the spot where it is usually 1X and after the update it was at 3G. Well, unfortunately it's back to 1X so I guess it was just a fluke and a tease. I would have to say no radio update =/ Bummer. I like the camera much better now though. It seems quicker, especially focusing.

Does anybody use the stock keyboard? Did it make it any better to actually start using it again? I loved the layout but no autocorrect kind of sucks.

How do you do that?

Just got the update, was hoping it would put text alerts back on the lock screen. No such luck, it appears......

in the notification panel if you long press on the wifi notification it will bring up "app info". press that and then you force stop it and its gone until restart. Small victory from JB but at least i am not accidentally toggling wifi when i just want to clear notifications. Still no wifi in the quick set above. no biggie though, there are tons of wifi toggles out there.

Ok so I updated from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 (Verizon) a few minutes ago. I haven't gone through everything yet but one thing I did notice is camera settings. I no longer seem to have night mode anymore which I really liked. I go to scene mode options and all I have is: None, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Party/Indoor, Beach/Snow, Sunset, Dawn, Fall Color, Text, and Candlelight.

I wish I had checked to see what options there were with 4.1.1 so I can see what was changed. I thought maybe it was sunset but it's not. If anyone here is still running 4.1.1 and could tell me what scene modes you have that would be helpful. If for some reason they removed night mode I'm going to be very unhappy. The camera just doesn't do low light well at all unless you're in night mode.

Edit: So I finally found where they hid the night mode. It used to be in scene mode with 4.1.1, now it's called "low light" mode and they put it in the shooting mode options. Just in case anyone else was looking for it. :)

I think our radio issues are chip and antenna related and probably is what it is. Thanks for the follow up!

The positive at least is updates are being done. Post launch updates are nothing but cost to them, with minimal upside unless the firmware has blatant performance issues.

Failed now three times doing OtA update. Downloads and fails on the restart/install part. All stock...

Oh well, doesn't look like much todo with the patch anyways.

Got the update yesterday, so far I haven't noticed a change in battery life. I have had one self-reboot while updating apps in Google Play. It seems like the stock camera icon is different (was there always a prominent green reflection on the icon lens?).

did you try toggling airplane mode on and off? I definitely noticed an improved signal today. Was getting 4G outside my house where I never get it, albeit one bar but still an upgrade, and also a much stronger connection at work. Same as you I used to only get 1x in my office and had 3 bars of 3g today. It did switch to 1x at one point but after toggling data on and off went back to 3 bars of 3g.

My signal is definitely better, 3g, 4g and voice are all better. My maps issue with sirius was not fixed but it's not the end of the world because it works on other music apps I use, only seems to be a problem with sirius.

Tethering is not completely fixed but I now can get reliable tethering without dropping after turning on hotspot, connecting (won't work the first time as data drops), disconnecting and waiting a few minutes, and then reconnecting.

I am running stock JB never rooted on my sgs3 and am tethering via fattin widget with unlimited data.

I am not having the youtube issue others are reporting. overall I'm very happy with this update

I got the update yesterday and have had nothing but problems since then.

The update included "Email syncing improvements", but the improvement in my case means that phone is constantly trying to connect to my office exchange server. I have the settings set to "push", yet the software is now is constant state of "refresh" causing my battery life to drop considerably. I've even gone as far as resetting the update interval from "push" to manual to try to prevent the phone from connecting to the server without my assistance with no luck, even after a reboot.

That's interesting. I tried it now and yeah it changed from 1X to 3G. The day of the update it stayed 3G at work all day which was nice. As soon as I did waht you said it automatically went to 3G.

Since the update, I seem to be losing 4G more and having to use Open Signal to get it back. This did happen before the update, but more common now. Could just be a fluke, but the radios are for sure NOT any better than before.

I have had two since launch, and find the Galaxy S3 a great 4G phone, but awful (IMO) 3G phone.

My S3 can't do anything on 3G. It can't load my gmail emails and it can't for the life of it open a webpage or even load Facebook. It's either 4G or wifi...or nothing

I notice the same thing with one or two bar 3G signal. I appreciate that the bars do not mean much, but when they are at two bars or less with 3G, data does not work well, if at all. Same thing for 1X.

As stated, the GS3 is a great 4G phone. Emphasis on the 4G. If I did not mainly have 4G where I dwell, I would not have the GS3.

Loving 4.1.2 ao far. It fixed a problem I was having. Whenever I wad using Wifi I would get a proxy server error and would have to switch to 4G. It fixed that so I'm happy.

I heard we were suppose to grt multiwindow. Is that true? I can't find it anywhere if we did.

The Bluetooth does not seem to be improved for me, in fact it seems to be worse when my phone is playing music with lots of skips and interruptions...

Updated today with no problems. Haven't notice any issues yet. Did notice that when I received a group text message I was able to reply as a group message or individual message. Couldn't do that before from what I recall.

If I am rooted is there a way to permanently defer an update until I choose to do it? I'd rather wait to see what problems people have before updating. That and the phone is working fine for me now, updating just means there's a possibility of them breaking something else. :(
