Root [Verizon] A thread of warning - with a happy ending

Sam gets mint note 3 off of swappa to replace his ailing galaxyS3, hoping it's not updated to the unrootable 4.4.4, It arrives with 4.4.2 and Verizon trying hard to push an update (Cue mission impossible theme) Can Sam achieve root access before Verizon locks his phone away?

YES! boom rooted! For some reason Google wifi tether is not working - To the internets! - ok hrm, for the note 3 they say try foxfi or ROM it. Sam does not like Foxfi! Time to ROM! Sam loads safe strap and reboots nothing!

TO THE INTERNETS! AHA! but of course, i did not install the latest version of Busybox... load it and oooh safestrap loads (oh the powah!) Following the video tutorial I back up the stock rom, then loads the Hyper Rom in Slot 1 and reboot

BLACKSCREEN! OK, must have been a glitch, Sam goes in and formats the romslot and reloads it - reboot....

BLACKSCREEN OK, hrm lets return it back to the stock slot

OH WAIT Safestrap says you are on the stock slot! (queue sphincter tightening music)

After two more visits to the brickyard I ended up loading Alliance rom in the stock slot and the phone is no longer bricked. (queue sphincter loosening music?)

A word to those who probably would never ever do such a thing - CHECK YOUR ROMSLOT!

Anyone know where I could grab stock code for this Verizon Note 3?

By stock code...you mean stock firmware? If so, then I just grabbed the stock 4.4.4 firmware and flashed my sisters Note 3 with it and works perfect. She was not rooted like mine is, but she tried the VZW OTA update to 4.4.4 and it bricked her phone...even the Verizon store couldn't/wouldn't fix it. So, I flashed the stock 4.4.4 from Sam Mobile and it's working great. You can find other versions as well.

I found that in order to install the stock rooted rom off of XDA,( and I'm guessing the Hyperdrive too) I need to flash the NV2 kernel. Stock amd AllianceRom seem to be playing well together.

Well, Hyperdrive use to be my favorite but after my battery keep draining rapidly on my VZW network extender I switched to the Jasmine ROM, which was nice. But then when I upgraded to Jasmine 2.4.4 mobile hotspot would not work. So, I moved on to Biggin's ROM and I am current on it and love it. Glad you found something that worked for you.
