R robin_ Member Sep 1, 2013 #1 I just received a replacement S3 (see my tale of woe here). It wants to do an update. Is there any harm in that or should I hold off and root instead? I once made my life vastly more difficult accepting an update before rooting my old DroidX so now I'm gunshy.

R robin_ Member Sep 1, 2013 #4 It shipped with VRBMB1. I know the update won't harm my phone. The question is will the update harm my ability to root (as I've experienced in the past.) In other words can I update and root at my leisure, or should I root right away?
