Root [Verizon] Battery life after root?

I took the plunge and finally rooted.

Before I rooted I had really respectable battery life -- see exhibit A. and exhibit B. attached:

Sorry, I don't have a SS of my after root battery life but with very similar battery usage (about an hour and a half screen-on time for both pics) my battery is draining almost twice as fast. No single app is showing up on my battery statistics as a suspect but my screen seems to drain my battery much faster after root.

All tests were done with screen at auto-dim settings same environment/daily routine (work day at the office).

I'm feeling like rooting allowed some apps to misbehave in the background. Anyone else have similar results?

Rooting alone shouldn't affect battery life. Mine is unaffected; exactly the same as it was before rooting. Are you running the stock root66 rom?

For the life of me I can't remember where I got the download from... I had so many pages open when researching what to do and a video tutorial running in the background at the same time. It may not be root66 rom though b/c the file name is rooted.system.img.tar.

That would explain why my battery life took a hit.

Plus as a side note, I didn't wipe/factory reset when I did the flash and when I booted up my phone everything remained the same except I had SU. Everything seems to function perfectly (battery issues aside) including root access to apps that need it.

I think I'll chalk this up to a non-issue as I suspect it is likely the rom and I'm SURE I'll be getting that itch to replace it with the next new thing.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Edit: Ahh! I'm your 100th "Thanked" does that entitle me to a prize?!?!

I know the original stock rom posted by invisiblek on xda had some problems because it wasn't the true stock rom. I had problems on it. I would go to xda and flash the stock root66 rom as it was a proper remake of the stock rom. I've had an HTC Incredible, rooted Thunderbolt, and rooted Galaxy Nexus and this phone easily beats all three in battery life.

So are you saying that rooting the S3 at this point in time doesn't help save some battery life? If it does save some battery, is it significant?

Rooting itself does nothing to the battery. What you can achieve with root access, such as removing bloatware and background services preinstalled on the phone, does.

Ahh sorry, I knew that. I just traded in a rooted TBolt for this S3. I guess that was a stupid question. I guess the question is.. does removing that little bit of bloatware (or is it a lot?) make a difference?
