I am currently on the unlimited data plan with Verizon and the razr maxx. can I simply buy an older phone that doesn't have jellybean to be able to access hotspot?

Hey gmaw,

Are you referring to the fact that Foxfi doesn't work with Jelly Bean?

You could do what you are saying, or you could root and install one of those hotspot apps, such as wifi tether, or if you don't use hotspot that much, you can just activate the hotspot feature for just the days you need it... It's prorated, so $30 per month is actually $1 per day.
