[Update] Verizon Galaxy Note 2 bootloader unlock said to be achieved

Our own home site has posted an article about how well known android dev Adam Outler has reported that he has successfully unlocked the bootloader on his Note 2. The full method of which hasn't been released yet, and doesn't appear to be an easy procedure as of this moment. But it is a sign of potentially greener pastures for all you Note 2 users.

I'm going to do it as soon as I get my Note 2 in the next week or so.

Coming from a Gnex, I'm very used to having a plethora of ROMs/kernels to install, so this is second nature to me, but I hope CM, Franco, Pete and other popular devs pick up support for this phone. I hope some good kernels come to this soon, I really rely on USB Fast Charging for most of my chargers (that normally only charge at USB as opposed to AC speeds).

I unlocked mine tonight. Couldn't have been any easier. Took 10 minutes tops.

Obviously that choice is yours. The question is why would you want the Verizon OTA update?
The purpose of unlocking the bootloader is to be able to install custom ROMs and kernels.
If you have no desire to do that then don't bother unlocking.

It might be a good, long while before 4.1.2 is pushed to US carriers.

Or it could be tomorrow (just kidding). No one knows for sure.

Are there any custom kernels available for the Verizon Note 2 yet? I want USB Fast Charging on this thing as soon as I get it this weekend. I use it all the time on my Gnex.

Edit: Never mind, found this. . Seems to be the only kernel available for it now though. Hopefully this thing gets support by the big devs like Franco, Fede (Lean kernel) and others too.

Rooted and unlocked my bootloader without an issue yesterday. Kind of reminded me of the OG Droid days when you had to have all the extra software on your PC in order to unlock it (except then you did it through the command prompt too). It was definitely easier on the Gnex, but that's to be expected on a Nexus device; they had PC software with a nice GUI that backed up, unlocked (which wipes your phone), then restored your phone. But this time I did it as soon as I got the phone so I didn't have to backup/restore anything except for the Titanium data from my Gnex for all my user apps.
