Root [Verizon] Brick - Please help

Ok - here is what happened and I can't seem to find any on line support.

I have a Galaxy S3 1535 Verizon model.

I successfully rooted using Odin and the pre-rooted tar files.

I also installed one of the CM10 nightlies and the AOPK Jelly Bean version as well as unlocked the boot loader. All good.

I decided I wanted to go back to ICS Rooted version. I had a problem with the MD5 checksum so I went to reflash the pre-rooted ICS version using Odin. That is where I got trouble.

I successfully flash the pre-rooted ICS version using Odin. However, I can't get the device to boot up. Odin tells me I "pass" and I get a "Samsung" flash up on the screen, then "Galaxy S3" then nothing. I have removed the battery and tried to re-insert. still nothing. I even went back and flashed the stock kernal. Same thing.

Anyone help?

Thanks.

There is a bug when flashing that can lead to the /system and /data partitions not wiping correctly thus leading them to be formatted incorrectly. This can happen even if you do everything right. Flashing a Nandroid or going back to stock in Odin wont fix this.

If your phone will boot to the Samsung screen you should be able to recover. Read and follow the directions here:

Not sure if this will work but you could try. Pull battery, hold down Home button , volume UP, and power button. Hold it till you boot into recovery. Then restore your nandroid. For anyone not yet at this problem point, research extSD formatting (must be fat32) when in cwm and backing up, make sure you scroll down to extSD to back up and also that us where you will find it when you do a recovery. My win 7 formatted to fat32 no problem. But there are programs you can download that will do it as well.

Thanks guys.

Yes - I DID have a nandroid - but (stupidly I guess) I changed the names of the folders, thereby screwing up the checksum - so I was hosed.

Thanks Trent - I found that page after I posted but before I saw your link. It did the trick! I evidently had some kind of corruption in the bootloader. That method is an absolute LIFESAVER.

Thanks again for the quick response guys!
