Root [Verizon] Calendar app

I really like the stock calendar that is rolled into the CleanROM package. Of course when I flash to an AOSP ROM, I lose it and have to go with the calendar flavor of the dev. Is there a way to extract the app (apk?) from CR then 'surgically' insert it into the AOSP (or WHATEVER rom). Just curious as I've had this happen in the past!

I have explored the zips & taken different system apps out & put them into other zips & flashed them to the phone . . . (zip name/system/app). I did it in windows xp & re-compiled the "home made" zip with the added app file inside, & re-compiled/zipped it with winrar. just make sure the compression type of the zip is the same as the original zip, & when you copy it to the phone, & go to flash it in recovery, just make sure the owner & permissions settings are the same as a pre-zipped flashable zip`s settings. I did this successfully on an earlier version of CleanRom 5.5.1. I added a different messaging app & it worked. Also, Make sure the versions of the apps are compatible (A 4.1.2 app compiled into a 4.1.1 zip will not work).

Thanks Talon! Sounds pretty intense but I'm sure it is not as bad as I might pre-judge it to be :p Lots of useful info packed up here that I'll reference at which time I decide to try doing this. There have been other things that I liked about a previous rom that would have been nice to incorporate into a 'new' rom but I didn't take the time to learn how to do it...:o
