LOL...you don't work for the gov't in their spy shenanigans do you?!!.. THAT'S exactly what I had - actually left over homemade from a couple nights ago...but it's almost as good second time around
My full report:
Nandroid Manager found two backups, one that was for sure my previous ROM dated back in early May I believe then there was another that only had the date and time "2013-06-08--19-05-49". I was thinking that I flashed the new ROM on Fri evening (2013-06-07) but the bu is from Saturday!
At any rate, it DID find a call log so I had it restore it. It did "success"fully... But I don't SEE IT anywhere.
I guess I should ask if you think I may need to do a complete wipe and reflash but leave the stock dialer? Maybe that's the only way I'm going to get my recent calls to register! Thoughts?

Here`s my take . . . use both apps. Keep the dialer app pre-installed in the rom for its reliability & ability to log/store call logs; & install your prefferred dialer app to use. In theory, they should both work together, similar to having multiple messaging apps that can share/access the messages stored on the device. (provided everything in the rom & app is working correctly)

I uninstalled the TouchPal Contacts /Dialer app and now the stock dialer is there! It must be MAGIC

I have clear Dalvik and cache plus fixed permissions..all seems back to 'normal' except:
When I am scrolling thru the call log, I will get a "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped." Now whuh? Hmmmm :smokingsomb:
EDIT: So I guess I DIDN'T delete the stock dialer. C'mon man, I know I DID!

What version of CleanRom are you running ? I`m running the 2.7.4 theme & had a weird mystery . . . the Myfiles app (stock pre-installed file browser app, non root) just flat-out disappeared & I got a few "unfortunately" messages also. I just re-installed the theme & all was fine. Weird. Btw . . . re-installing the theme won`t wipe any of your call logs or messages. Try it . . .

I'm actually running CarbonRom 1.7...I came from CleanRom just last weekend.
You may find this odd...but I don't run a 'theme' basically because I'm not sure what the heck it is! So I'm unsure what you want me to do

A supplement to your rom that just changes the look & feel of the rom, & may add a few extra features. The re-installatio of my "theme" fixed my weird issue. Let me sleep on this . . . Time to sack out for us old guys .. I'll check in tomorrow . . .

The only thing I can think of is . . . Maybe the 2 dialer apps dont play well together, possibly due to the rom. Why not try to do the use-both-apps scenario in CleanRom & see if it works . . .
Hmmm, that's a good way to come to some understanding with what might be going on, however, I will need to wait until the weekend or later as I'm a bit busy to do that right now...thanks for the suggestion and I will post the results when (& if) I do it..
