I've never flashed a Cyanogen ROM (stable, release candidate or nightly). I'm thinking of flashing the nightly for today. Is there anything I should know or can someone give me some successful stories or warnings?

I realize that a nightly build likely will have some bugs, but should I expect anything more buggy than other ROMS out there?

Well, I am going to point out the obvious, which I am sure you already know. Make sure you have the latest version of your favorite custom recovery installed first so you avoid the nested /0/0 directory problems.

Other than that I have run CM nightlies just fine on the Motorola A855 (OG Droid) just fine as daily drivers in the past. The only thing is that there's not much support if you do find bugs.

I am happily enjoying CM nightlies. Actually fixed some issues I was having with BT, and the available tweaks are nice.

I use the OTA updater included in the ROM to update to the latest nightly every week or so

Make sure you do a backup of your current set up before flashing anything. As in a nandroid backup in your recovery of choice.

Okay it's been about a month since I first flashed Cyanogen10.1-20130527 (aka May 27, 2013). I'm ready to flash a new version but does anyone know if I can do a dirty flash or if I have to do a clean wipe and install. There is a release candidate that I'd like to flash from June 7th OR maybe even the nightly that came out today.

Anyone with any insight as to how effective dirty flashes are? Obviously I know that if I try a dirty flash I should also have a current backup ready to flash just in case soemthing goes wrong. I also know that a clean install is always best and has the least chance of something going wrong.

Just really want to know your success rate and if it's possible.

Clean flashing takes too long. I went 5 months without clean flashing. Then last week kept getting a play store has stopped working message every ten seconds no matter what I flashed. Clean flash fixed it.
