Root [Verizon] CyanogenMod 10 install stuck

Lurker
So I just rooted my phone today and went to install CyanogenMod 10 on it using the Rom manager. I went through all the steps to install it, backed up my previous one and cleared the dalvik cache and clicked ok. It went through what seemed like the right process but for the past two hours it is still on the CyanogenMod screen with the name and a swirling blue thing. I figured at this point something was wrong. I have everything backed up so should I restore and try something different or what. Need any more info just ask. Thanks

Just use strait CWM and do a clean flash with fix perms. CM has an updater so you won't need to RM any more.

Mine is doing the same thing, I used the EZ recovery app. When I try to go to CWM it goes into "ODIN mode" where it gets stuck displaying "Downloading... Do not turn off target" Do I now have a brick on my hands?

Not for nothing...but did you guys unlock your bootloader before flashing CM??

As for having a brick...if you can get to "download mode" then it can be flashed with ODIN...and is not bricked

Make sure you're bootloader is unlocked. Download ez unlock v1.2 to unlock if needed. Make sure CWM 6.0.1.2 or latest twrp is installed and clean flash in recovery, not in ROM manager. You should be fine. If it gets stuck after a ridiculous amount of time it boot looped because you got a bad download or didn't wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik). Just pull battery, boot into recovery ( hold volume up, home, power) and restore the nandroid that you hopefully made. Don't pull the battery unless its taking way too long (10+ minutes). And for the other person...if its booting into Odin mode instead of recovery, you most likely don't have a custom recovery installed. Make sure you're rooted, unlock bootloader, install a custom recovery. You're not bricked but you may end up that way if you don't make sure you follow the rooting and unlock guides carefully

Thanks all for the help! I didn't have CWM 6.0.1.2. Once I did that CyanogenMod 10 went on with no problems. I only had it on there for about ten minutes, it felt too different so I went back to stock ICS. I get a couple of update fails a day from Verizon so I need to find something different. Thanks again!!!

Glad that worked. If you like touchwiz better than AOSP you should give beans, cleanrom, jellywiz, or galaxymod. They're all based on the leaked vzw jb update and they're all rock solid and buttery. If you want to stop the Verizon update attempts just freeze SDM 1.0 with TI backup
