[Verizon] Getting Hot In 4G,. Are You?

I have noticed the device gets pretty warm in 4G. I do work it hard by Wireless tethering & Navigating which leaves the screen on all the time.

The top rear of the device is the warmest. I run an ap that shows battery temps and it has been as high as 113

Normal Normal Normal :)

Thats a relief. Cuz I be-a-workin this puppy hard. Navigating, Wireless tethered to a laptop running two FF browsers monitoring GPS movements that load large map tiles as they move, and checking email etc.

I have a 2A power source going in and it barley keeps up and sometimes gains but not fast.

I would like to know the devices charging circuitry input has for a limiter. Just curious as to or not the 2A is being utilized.

I use a 1A because that is what is recommended. When nav'ing while on 4G with max screen brightness and streaming Google music mine gets very warm near the top like yours. Every Android phone I've owned gets very warm while doing these activities simultaneously. Like you said your just working her hard.

With my 1A car charger during these activities it will increase about 1% every 20-30 minutes so it is charging, albeit very slowly.

Thanks. I feel better now. I have ran ProClipusa.com powered cradles for years and the hardwired version comes with the 2A so I just kept it. I don't use the hardwired versions anymore because I need the port access.

I wireless tether 4G for long periods, and the phone can get quite hot, depends on the ambient temp though. Plus I don't think my rubber/silicon incipio case helps dissipate the heat any.

I find that making a voice call with the phone up to my ear is almost unbearable (say for a 10+ minute call)... like brain tumor seeding for sure (I think the heat is whats bad)... ear gets really hot, cant remember if the blackberry storm was this hot when using the phone directly on the ear.

I think it is all normal, or at least within the specs that its supposed to be at... sitting it in a sunbeam and tethering is an obvious no no... that thing might explode!
