technically it should read low dbm. There wouldn't be any issues with a high dbm value. Sorry to be critical.
I've had my phone for a few hours now. My signal is -93dBm
Isnt that flirting with the line between decent and dropped call?
Can you switch off 4G from setting menu on GS3, or did you use a radio switch app? I saw on other thread there is no forced 3G mode in GS3.
I am glad I stumbled across this thread, I was going to pick one up tomorrow to replace my iPhone 4 (was getting impatient waiting for the 5) but I think I will wait now, Was going to jump over to Droid but this thread scares me, I have low signal as it is in some areas by me so I can't afford to give up more bars just cause the phones radio sucks
Im having insane connection issues here. Cant hold an LTE Connection and Im dropping calls left and right.
Sucks.
just to put it into a little better perspective, the phone I was using before my sgs3 was an iphone 4s and in the same places that on the iphone got the little o which mean 1x data I was getting a solid 2 bars of 4g. Iphones aren't really the best for reception anyway

My phone has been all over the place today. From -114 in my house this morning to -89 in my house at night. Either way my calls have been clear and connected with no issue. So that doesn't concern me. What concerns me is that my phone would also vary wildly with data. From 4g to 3g to 1x. Can't really keep a consistent speed.
This is just day 1 so i'm not jumping to conclusions yet. Amazing phone albeit i'm a bit overwhelmed by the jump in quality haha (came from droid x).
Maybe the s4 and qualcomm reads it differently? I mean like I said I do not care about bars or dbms if the phone performs how it should and is not constantly dropping a signal. All the nay sayers can say well it has to corrolate to something but ICS reports things different and who knows if the qualcomm chip does not also add to that. Overall I am happy with how well it is holding a signal in the same place my maxx would switch back and forth.
Not good at all. I wonder if its just a cdma issue? I'm looking at the at&t s3 right now. Looks like big red might be out for me.
bleh my phone came damaged~!!!
Meaning? In what way?
BTW, is this even the right thread?

It also makes you wonder if there are significant differences in the way towers handle signals differently in different areas. When you see some say their Mot blows away the S3 and others say almost the opposite, it just makes you search for some logical explanation other than defective phones.
Is it possible that some equipment on towers are newer or different and certain phones handle the signals better? I just don't know.![]()
