Root [Verizon] [Guide] Step-by-Step Rooting & Flashing

I'm running the CM10.1 ROM, and the gapps from goo.im/gapps with Android version 4.2.2. I noticed I don't have the app for My Verizon Mobile, and I don't have it in my Play Store either to download it which means when I search for it the app is not coming up in my search results. Would there be some additional steps I need to take in order to fix this? I hope someone would have time to reply! Thank you again! Also, I'm sorry about the jokes above. I wasn't being serious at all for myself, or someone to wipe the /system. I said it above in a joking way to be funny. I'm sorry if everyone took it that serious. I didn't mean and no intentions to be serious.

lol...it's all good my friend:)
It was funny....no harm done:D

As far as your Verizon app, that was probably a bloat app that came with the phone and is not part of CM 10.1....so you may not be able to get that app unless you flash a rom with it included.

Personally, I didn't use it and honestly, don't even know what it did:p

Yes, that's it, and I installed it, and thank you for that.

That was funny. I couldn't stop laughing. Do a couple of /system wipes a day, and then the person would be good to go. I couldn't believe I done that. My whole life would be lost if I harm my phone. I was in panic that my phone didn't turn on. I couldn't enter download mode/recovery unless I pull the battery each and every time. That was serious to me. Thank you, and Zoandroid for both helping me!

No problem:) That's why we are here:D

You're welcome. :) And now you learned not to wipe /system. :D

I wish there was some way that I could zoom in and zoom out using a camera on my phone, and if I like what I am seeing from zoom in and zoom out then take a picture? I guess its not possible?

You can zoom the camera by pinching and expanding your fingers, just as you might do to zoom in on a website. :)

Oh, that's zoom in? That's not what I was looking for then. I was looking for a zoom camera that will let me zoom through the whole house without me moving. I guess I asked my questions the wrong way?

Two words. Robotic camera.

Keep in mind that the real world solution to pretty much every dream concept requires time, effort, and last but very much not least, money! :)

Hey guys. Verizon S3. I had it rooted and running AOKP for a half a year or so now. Recently the battery stopped accepting charge (it's done it before a few months back but fixed itself somehow), and I wanted to just do a clean wipe to start over. I locked the bootloader for no particular reason and then when I tried to reboot into recovery (I was going to try a factory reset before I decided to wipe) it gave me the "Verizon sees unauthorized software, you suck, go to a Verizon store asap." Crap.

So I decided to try the clean wipe. Followed Method #2, got Odin, downloaded VRALG1, and went through the process. First time it failed. Second time it worked! I know the post said to be patient with the loading screen (the one that says LTE and such with the pulsating circles) but after an hour it wasn't going anywhere. I pulled the battery, wiped the caches that were mentioned, and tried again. Same thing. I re-did the Odin install and unchecked the "auto-reboot" button, install went great, but the screen wouldn't change after a while, I pulled the battery, wiped the caches, and rebooted. Same screen for what seems like forever (30 mins).

So the question I have is this. Am I going about this the wrong way? Does the loading screen actually take hours? What should I do? And also, am I screwed?

I am wishing to wipe the phone back to original, all data and such since my internal SD card was at 95% for some reason, and then I plan to put CM10 on the system after starting with a clean slate.

I'm a big fan of starting clean. Each time Ubuntu comes out with a new release I do a clean install. Spring cleaning I suppose.

And after wiping both caches, it tells me "Root access possibly lost. Fix? THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE."

It says it twice, so I clicked "Yes - Fix Root" both times.

Then I would recommend, like I have done, unrooting, re-rooting, then flash your rom.
See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867253

Which will bring you to this thread and use Section 5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709

And if you decide to use this particular file:
Official VRBLK3 4.1.1- http://hotfile.com/dl/182822657/9f67...p.tar.md5.htmlThis is the latest OTA that was initially released as a leak, then became official.)
it took forever to download to my computer. Now that could've been my crappy internet, but just saying:)

Then after flashing that file via Odin, you will be bone stock and on JB 4.1.1.
Then if you had used that file above, re-root with this procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
But only if you used the file I have in quotes up above.

I tried to download the VRALG7 but it kept stopping at 60MB for some reason. Do you have the long link? It got cut off.

So you're saying I'm not screwed? Sweet! Thanks!

From Method #2: "**Update: VRALG7 is current version via OTA; rooted ROM download and procedures are here: Download Verizon Galaxy S3 VRALG7 OTA Update, already rooted and deodexed!"

I can't even find the VRALG7 rooted rom to even try to download. :(

Even if I could, you would need to flash that in recovery and have an unlocked bootloader. You said you locked your bootloader. ?

What state of functioning is your device in now?

Right now it just goes to the pulsating circles that say Verizon LTE and that's it. I can reboot into recovery and also download. I'll try the hotfile download with Odin and hopefully that'll put me back to square one. Wish me luck!
