Root [Verizon] Help me root S3 running 4.1.1 please

Tried searching and using multiple methods and had no luck rooting now that I updated OTA to JB 4.1.1

Any help appreciated

NO problem, it worked for me! a little confusing coming from the Tbolt but just take your time and read directions fully before starting step 1 even

Hey Cereall!
Let me know how that goes! I just got mine yesterday and I do plan on rooting it also. I'm gonna run it like it is for a week or 2 to make sure no hardware issues etc, then I'm going for it

Having problems with the bloody first step.

Can boot my phone into ODIN
Load up the zipped VRALEC into "PDA" in ODIN and it fails everytime

Pretty good at following steps but this just will not post and load to my phone

Am I missing something?

I don't know but I'll follow along...and I'll ask questions which may seem dumb cuz I havent done it yet
Do you have the usb drivers installed?
Did you disable kies?

Yes have correct drivers and KIES is not running

I will clearify my problem...

STEP 2 FLASHING VRALEC
I open Odin3 : click on PDA and click on my downloaded VRALEC.bootchain.tar (in zip format) and it will not expand within Odin or flash to my phone properly

Do you think you have to extract the file first? Not sure. I was reading step one in the flash guide here:

I am not sure, so if you are not sure don't do it...I'm still reading

It's possible your download of VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5 is corrupt. Just delete the file you have and download it again. I had trouble with one of open1your1eyes0 files on a mirror server, but when I got it on another server, it passed and installed.

I think that was the problem with everything I downloaded there

Just rooted 3 GS3's and all working great and now able to tehter (which they couldn't originally due to stupid Verizon Unlimited plan not allowing it)

Did that whole process wipe your data etc? Like a factory reset would? If I understood some of the posts on xda, it doesn't.

Nothing reset, Nothing changed at all. Very easy if your files are not corrupt initially

So I would assume you can now remove bloatware?

Edit: n/m...I rooted tonite 12-23-12...and got TB Pro to do it
