Root [Verizon] Help with installing a Rom.

I've just rooted. I used E-Z unlocker to unlock the bootloader. I've then tried to install update and install the past 2 days of Synergy. I've downloaded the rom multiple times. Upon each install I get an "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted." message. What am I doing wrong or what step am I leaving out. Thanks for any help! I've been using the stock bootloader, do I need to be using CWM 6?

You need to use a custom recovery... either TWRP or CWM.

Download one of these:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zMHVwLmdvb21hbmFnZXIiXQ..

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...IxMiwiY29tLmtvdXNoaWtkdXR0YS5yb21tYW5hZ2VyIl0.

Use which ever you choose to flash a custom recovery. Then flash roms to your hearts content.

Thanks so much. I used E-Z Recovery and went with CWM 6. Installing Synergy now. I appreciate the help.

No worries. Make sure you always make back ups and be sure to pull the IMEI data off your phone and store it in a safe place. Synergy will automatically back up your IMEI for you and it can be found at /sdcard/synergyrom/backup/.

Trent, I flashed my first ROM yesterday too. With CWM 6.
I read my butt off to learn what I could. Rooting, IMEI backup, unlocked boot loader. I guess the reading paid off because all went smoothly.
The one thing I didn't follow was the wipe data step?
Where is it? And on the same subject of wiping cache, there are mentions of dalvik, partitions also. I have ROM Manager.
I'm thinking that I need to boot into recovery for this? Ive never been to the recovery menus so I'm asking first to make sure.

It's a good idea to wipe data between roms. If you don't you can get lingering pieces of code that can make your phone unstable or apps not function properly.

Go into ROM manager. Click Reboot Recovery. Your phone will reboot. Once in recovery click Scroll down to "wipe data/ factory reset".

This will wipe your apps, sms, mms, and call log (all personal data). However, your music and movies will be fine. I use this to back up my apps, mms, and sms so I can restore them after flashing a new rom:

There are other options... I just happen to like this one YMMV.

Can I still wipe if it's been a few days now? I didn't do it when I switched ROMs. Is it done before installing new ROM or before?

Thanks for the backup link and for helping out.

You should wipe before installing a rom. Typical process is:

MAKE A NANDROID
wipe data/factory reset in recovery
flash ROM
reboot

I would reinstall the rom if you are going to wipe.

So why every time a flash a rom ,I get the "unauthorized software message?" Then I have re-odin back to stock rooted.
